Equity Residential Tops Out 241-Unit One Henry Adams Apartment Community in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - - Following the recent announcement that ‘The Grove’ will open a 3,650 square-foot restaurant at One Henry Adams, Equity Residential today celebrated the ‘Topping Out’ of the 241-residence apartment community in the Showplace Square neighborhood of San Francisco, announced Jim Kelly, First Vice President of Development for Equity Residential. With a total development cost of $164.4M, construction on the six-story, 280,000 square-foot One Henry Adams will soon shift focus to the community’s internal features, amenities and distinctive architectural facades. Designed by BAR Architects and being built by Suffolk Construction, completion is slated for late 2016.

“Despite the complexities of building a project that spans a full city block in the center of an active mixed-use neighborhood, the expertise and hard work of Suffolk, BAR, and the entire development team cannot be overstated. Together, they have kept One Henry Adams ahead of schedule while minimizing its impact on the local community,” stated Kelly.

One Henry Adams has been designed to respect the area’s lixght industrial history while providing a modern living community. To complement the scale of surrounding buildings, the massing of the project provides for two, six-story buildings with clean lines that frame classic proportions. The exteriors introduce industrial materials of zinc and stainless steel mixed with brick and timber, and expanses of glass curtain walls. The buildings are separated by a 65’-wide, public park-like paseo that will connect Henry Adams St. to Rhode Island St., enhancing the pedestrian experience and providing street level retail with ample space for outdoor dining.

According to Kelly, “We are very excited to be bringing much needed housing and retail to the heart of Showplace Square. When combining One Henry Adams with our nearby residential projects 855 Brannan and Potrero 1010, the neighborhood will soon have more than 1,150 new apartment homes and an additional 42,600 SF of retail space to serve the community – accelerating the area’s transformation into a true neighborhood. Each project further contributes signature public spaces to the community: a redwood grove at 855 Brannan; a one-acre park at Potrero 1010; and the pedestrian paseo at One Henry Adams.”

One Henry Adams also provides residents with a full menu of modern amenities: a rooftop terrace with kitchen, lounge chairs and spectacular views of downtown; a large fitness center with high ceilings and the latest equipment; multiple lounges with WiFi, HDTV’s, farm tables, and comfortable seating; a club room with demonstration kitchen; two private outdoor courtyards with fireplace and grilling areas; 1:1 bicycle parking with tool racks and a repair station; and a dog spa.

According to Equity Residential, Potrero 1010 is scheduled for completion in Q1 of 2016, One Henry Adams in Q4 of 2016, and 855 Brannan in Q1 of 2017.
