New York Based Goldstein Hill & West Architects Launches Interior Design Firm

NEW YORK, NY - Goldstein Hill & West Architects (GHWA), a New York City-based architecture firm and its partners, who are responsible for the design of more than 100 prominent buildings throughout Manhattan, announce the formation of Whitehall Interiors NYC (Whitehall). This new affiliated firm will specialize in the design of residential living and common spaces, commercial offices and lobbies, and hospitality interior projects.

Whitehall will concentrate on interior design projects for new and existing buildings throughout the city. The firm’s staff will maintain their relationship with the architects at GHWA, allowing them to work hand-in-hand to supply developers with a high-quality, cohesive set of buildable drawings.

In 2012, GHWA moved its offices from Midtown South to a larger space downtown at 11 Broadway. The name Whitehall Interiors NYC was selected to reflect both the firm’s commitment to its new home and neighborhood in the vicinity of Whitehall Street, and the rich historical fabric of lower Manhattan that will influence its work.

"The interiors team at GHWA has experienced a great deal of success with its work on a number of prominent design projects throughout the City. As the demand for custom, high-quality interior space increases, it seemed only natural that we form Whitehall Interiors NYC, a firm dedicated to the growing needs of our clients,” said L. Stephen Hill, a partner at GHWA. “The new firm is an important progression for our team; it will provide our designers with an even stronger opportunity to showcase their extraordinary talent and creativity on a variety of new projects in the future.”

Karen Asprea, the director of interior design at Whitehall Interiors NYC, has been with GHWA since its inception. “I’m proud to lead our design team as we embark on this new adventure with the launch of Whitehall Interiors NYC,” said Ms. Asprea.  “We have hand-picked a team of talented interior designers who also have a refined understanding of the building process, and we greatly anticipate working with new and existing clients on the creation of beautiful spaces.”

Whitehall is currently working on several high-rise luxury buildings, both on ground-up construction projects and the complete re-design of existing buildings. Whitehall is often contracted by well-known building owners to design the lobby, amenity areas, and other aspects of these buildings, such as the kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, elevator cabs, and more.

Before the official launch, the Whitehall team designed a number of notable properties around New York, including a full interiors package for residential high-rise The Continental, at 885 Sixth Avenue. Most recently, the team completed lobby renovations at Feil Organization’s 7 Penn Plaza and 488 Madison Avenue. The lobby at 7 Penn Plaza was transformed to include a 16-foot grand entryway, cove lighting, honed limestone finishes, and modernized elevators and corridors. At 488 Madison Avenue, the lobby features polished white Calcutta walls and a honed gray limestone floor. The space also boasts stainless steel elevators and eco-friendly LED lighting.
