The Bozzuto Group Announces Opening of The Shelby Apartments in Alexandria, Virginia

GREENBELT, MD - Bozzuto Management Company, a subsidiary of The Bozzuto Group, announced that The Shelby, a distinctive, new apartment community developed and owned by Insight Property Group, is now open for leasing. The Shelby is located at 6200 North Kings Highway in Alexandria, Virginia.

The Shelby is a mid-rise luxury community comprised of 240 residences ranging from junior one-bedrooms to the largest option, two-bedrooms with a den. Convenient to Old Town Alexandria, National Harbor, Fort Belvoir and Washington, D.C., and less than a half-mile to the Huntington Metro, The Shelby was developed in response to the increasing need for transit-oriented apartment homes that are close to major employers.

“Our primary focus was on the positive contributions we could bring to the area,” said Rebecca Snyder, partner at Insight Property Group. “We have worked closely with Supervisor Jeff McKay’s office, County staff, and our neighbors to design a high-end residential project that can be a source of pride for the community.”

Each residence features gourmet chef-inspired kitchens, imported white rose granite countertops, Whirlpool stainless steel dishwashers, Energy Saver appliances, and wood plank flooring. In addition to the high-end features of each home, The Shelby offers residents more than 10,000 square feet of amenity space. The spacious lobby features a large communal table, art installations, a fireplace and complimentary Wi-Fi. ‘The Lounge’ has an abundance of comfortable seating and an entertainment kitchen with 70” HDTV’s. ‘The Hall’ is a gaming room with billiards flanked by a 90” HDTV and ‘The Study’ has 27” iMac computers. The resort-style swimming pool has outdoor lounge seating and ‘The Backyard’ boasts an outdoor movie theater and pavilion with Bull Premium stainless steel grills, concrete countertops, an outdoor bar, fireplace, and a custom dining table.

The Shelby has a 24-hour state-of-the-art gym where residents can box, lift, run, squat, row and ride to a healthier way of living. The gym was designed with the ultimate workout in mind. A room in the gym called ‘The Box’, named after the gyms where ‘CrossFitters’ train, features custom monkey bars, a 70” HDTV with Apple TV as well as everything you need for CrossFit, P90X, TRX, and more.

“Meaningful amenities and showcasing local talent in the community space was very important for us to include in the design of The Shelby,” said Snyder. “We commissioned more than 100 works of art and installations from 40 local artists and craftsmen including D.C.-based SwatchRoom, Gutierrez Studios out of Baltimore, MD, and Carbon Industrial Design located minutes from The Shelby in Alexandria, VA. We believe in supporting and celebrating local talent. The D.C. area has a thriving creative scene that we are proud to showcase at The Shelby."

Insight Property Group’s attention to detail doesn’t stop there, The Shelby boasts additional services including a dog park, ‘Bark and Bubbles’ – an on-site dog grooming station, bike storage and fix-it station, private parking, an electric car charging station, and The Shelby’s very own public bus stop.
