Beacon Hill Senior Living Community Celebrates 30th Anniversary with $15 Million Expansion Project

LOMBARD, IL - In DuPage County, 13 percent of the population has already reached their senior years, a number that will continue to climb as the Baby Boomers age. Already home to 516 residents, Beacon Hill senior living community’s expansion project will provide more options and amenities for current residents and meet the changing desires of the newest generation of seniors.

Beacon Hill will celebrate the start of construction on the approximately $15 million expansion with a special groundbreaking ceremony at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, at 2400 S. Finley Road in Lombard.

“Our community has evolved to meet the needs of seniors since we first opened 30 years ago,” said Blaire Goldstein, executive director. “This groundbreaking is the perfect way to celebrate how far we’ve come, and to look forward to a long future of serving the area’s vibrant and active older adults.”

Planned expansions to the existing community include an auditorium, multiple dining venues, kitchen, dining preparation space and loading dock. The project is expected to be complete in summer 2016, and will add local construction jobs and 10 new positions at Beacon Hill.

Lifespace Communities, Inc. CEO Sloan Bentley will join Beacon Hill staff, board members, residents and local dignitaries in the groundbreaking, which is part of a weeklong 30th anniversary celebration. The week’s activities also include an activity fair, garden show, talent show, gala and showing of a documentary film featuring residents’ life stories.

Lynn Siler, resident service director, is one of two Beacon Hill employees who have worked at the community all 30 years.

“I’ve seen so much growth in our physical campus, technology and activities, but what has remained the same is our commitment to providing an engaging lifestyle and quality care for seniors,” Siler said. “It’s very rewarding to have a career with a senior living community that makes such an impact on residents, staff and the greater community, and I’m excited that we’re continuing this tradition with an expansion that will give our residents yet another reason to enjoy living at Beacon Hill.”

Beacon Hill has partnered with Tremain Architects & Planners, Ltd., based in Minneapolis, MN, and Chicago-based Walsh Construction to execute the expansion project.
