Highly Anticipated Residential Building Gotham West Set to Transform NYC Luxury Apartment Living

NEW YORK, NY - Gotham West officially opens this month, offering 554 new luxury rental apartments in Hell's Kitchen. Developed by Gotham Organization, Inc, Gotham West presents comfortable and modern living on a grand scale, pairing impeccable residences with first-rate amenities and a 15,000-square-foot day-and-night market featuring eight artisan food purveyors and restaurants, in addition to a bike shop.

Located at 550 West 45th Street on the corner of 11th Avenue, Gotham West is a 32-story luxury rental building surrounded by 10,000 square feet of landscaped outdoor spaces.  Designed by SLCE Architects, with interiors by SPAN Architecture and landscaping by Thomas Balsley Associates, residences boast elegant, creative finishes rarely, if ever, found in rental buildings. From quarter-sawn white oak-plank flooring and custom-designed lighting to bathrooms featuring Dutch mosaic tiling, no detail at Gotham West has been overlooked. Kitchens feature black granite countertops and stainless steel appliances by KitchenAid, and every unit has a washer and dryer.

One of the building's signature amenities is Gotham West Market, a first-of-its-kind day-and-night market conveniently located on the ground floor. The market offers a well-curated list of artisan vendors and restaurateurs who will open early and stay open late. The market stretches a full city block and the spacious interior, designed by AvroKO, features indoor and outdoor dining areas and an overall aesthetic inspired by urban street culture. In addition to NYC Velo, a bike shop and porter, eight restaurants and food purveyors are featured at Gotham West Market: ROADSIDE from AvroKO; Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop from Ivan Orkin, the world-renowned ramen master; El Colmado, a tapas bar from chef Seamus Mullen of Tertulia; The Cannibal featuring charcuterie and small plates; Brooklyn Kitchen, a retail shop and demonstration kitchen; Little Chef from chef Caroline Fidanza; Court Street Grocers, a sandwich shop; and Blue Bottle Coffee.

"We feel we have really elevated luxury living another notch with the opening of our newest building Gotham West," said David Picket, President of Gotham Organization. "We have thrown in a couple of new twists, like the Gotham West Market and the bike porter, but we really focused on improving the more conventional amenities: lounge, gym, roof deck, with careful attention to detail and finishes."

Residents and guests are welcomed through a striking wood-paneled lobby that leads to the heart of Gotham West and a rare treasure in New York City: a 9,000-square-foot landscaped interior courtyard anchored by a peaceful reflecting pool, a stately red Japanese maple tree, lush foliage and greenery, and custom-designed sculptures. Indoors, the "residents only" lounge overlooks the courtyard and is ideal for relaxing or working, with distinct activity spaces and intimate seating areas.

Sunshine pours through the 45-foot-long skylight, highlighting the custom Terrazzo flooring detailed with bronze inlay and walnut wood paneling throughout. The lounge is filled with exquisite treasures from local artisans, including Christopher Bailey, Crosby Street Studio, Anthony Moot and Uhuru Design, and houses a game room with screening area and handcrafted billiards table, a state-of-the-art business center, a library with a 26-foot reading table, and an art gallery with rotating exhibits.

For many residents, a favorite amenity will be the lounge's fully-equipped state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen, to be programmed with special cooking events from the Gotham West Market's resident chefs.  A 26-foot dark marble communal table runs alongside the kitchen and fronts a sculptural fireplace hearth.  Complimentary breakfast is served daily for residents.

"Gotham Organization really went above and beyond on the finishes at Gotham West, creating a timeless aesthetic with many elements of old-world luxury reimagined for today," said Jean-Gabriel Neukomm, principal of SPaN. "We didn't make any compromises here. This residence employs high concept, high design elements beautifully distilled into well-appointed rental apartments and amenity spaces —the caliber of which have never been seen before."

Additional common spaces include "The Perch" overlooking the courtyard with more intimate seating, an outdoor fireplace, lush pergola, bamboo plantings as well as the 32nd floor "Sky Terrace," which pairs a glass-enclosed club space with an outdoor terrace featuring sweeping Hudson River views. Gotham West also offers a fully-equipped health club with separate studios for weights, cardio, yoga, and cycling. Fitness classes will be offered daily. For the little ones, Gotham West offers an outdoor children's play area and children's playroom.

Lastly, the building houses below-grade parking and a full-service bike porter, on-hand for tune-ups, while bike storage and rentals are also available. As with all Gotham Organization buildings, Gotham West provides concierge service and a full calendar of resident-only events – from rooftop film screenings to art shows and book readings.
