Community Earns LEED Status

Community Earns LEED Status
CONCORD, NC - Crescent Resources Multifamily Development Group earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for the Circle at Concord Mills clubhouse. The building is the first multifamily garden community facility in North Carolina to earn LEED certification.

The apartment community's clubhouse features low-energy doors and windows, low-emissions carpet and paint, native landscaping, water-efficient plumbing fixtures, energy efficient mechanical systems, ENERGY STAR kitchen appliances and recycled building materials. The building, which is the first LEED-certified structure in Cabarrus County, N.C., also offers preferred parking for hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles.

"We're thrilled this project earned LEED certification," said Todd Farrell, president of Crescent Resources Multifamily Development Group. "We consider green features an amenity that our residents seek out and appreciate."

Circle is Crescent's innovative approach to apartment living, giving residents the opportunity to live in an upscale, environmentally friendly community focused on enriching their social experiences. The community is surrounded by 30 acres of preserved woods and wetlands, and it recently became the first multifamily community in the country to be certified by Audubon International as an Audubon Signature Sanctuary.

The 312-unit project opened in April 2009 as the first smoke-free community in Concord. The units are leasing beyond expectations.

Circle was inspired through extensive review and analysis of current industry trends and marketplace needs. The progressive Circle communities are places where neighbors connect and become stewards of the larger community. In addition to presenting a new breed of apartments that people are excited to live in, Circle developments are infused with the exceptional quality and customer-oriented features that have become Crescent hallmarks.
